HO Brass Southern Pacific 3/4 Dome #3601 ca. 1970's Smooth Side Soho/Kumata MINT

HO Brass Southern Pacific 78-seat Dome-Lounge #3601 Smooth-Side circa 1970s. Produced by Kumata of Japan for S. SP #3601 was a 1955 product of SP's own Sacramento shops.

It was designated class 83-DL-2 and was one of only two like cars. Originally clad in corrugate steel it was assigned to the "Overland Route" between Oakland, California and Ogden, Utah, traversing the spectacular Sierra Nevada and vast deserts of Nevada and Utah. Car #3601 ran in this form until 1970 when the corrugation was removed and the car painted in the silver and red "Sunset" lines scheme. The car served as Amtrak #3500 and was eventually condemned after many years as a truckless office structure in Kansas.

The model is provided in its original box where it has been stored since new. No indication of any previous use. No tarnish or marks on the factory-nickel-plated surface/ No wheel wear. This hard-to-find model is an essential car for your late SP "Overland" roster. The item "HO Brass Southern Pacific 3/4 Dome #3601 ca.
